Don Cook, and his band Gypsy Stew is considered a “most uncommon band”. Last summer/fall season Don (who leads this entourage) ranged from Chicago to Philadelphia to Florida performing at clubs, festivals, dive bars, campgrounds, courtyards-you name it! In the winter season he works in the South based out of New Orleans as Gypsy Stew and also the Dick Deluxe Revue featuring Don Cook. Combined Don & Dick have an astonishing over 100 years of performing experience under their belts! Founder Don Cook began the band as a duo and for a decade performed, recorded and toured throughout the country. With dual home bases in rural North Central Ohio and New Orleans. Don in 2021 brought in New Orleans based Dick Deluxe on guitar and vocals to Ohio along with native Brad Oviatt on fiddle to complete his guitar and vocal stylings for a unique set that amazes every venue! Always a successful summer/fall of touring and performing from Philadelphia to Chicago to Florida the band is currently doing their Mardi Gras/Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest season in New Orleans. After festival season He, and his crew are returning to the Ohio base for another summer in the great Midwest and beyond. They as well will be playing sets all over the country on special request!
Don Cook has been performing since childhood including a stint as the drum major at his HS and studies at the OSU music school. His first notable gigs were in the internationally recognized British rock band Savoy Brown in the late 70’s. During a 30 year tenure in Los Angeles Don was a featured performer throughout Southern California as well as an entrepreneurial contributor the the SoCal scene. In recent years Don has moved back between his two favorite scenes predominately home based on a farm in rural Ohio summers, and New Orleans where he winters and works extensively with Dick Deluxe and others.
